Blume has been granted a two weeks vacation by the postofflce authorities and he and Mrs. Blume will leave Monday for Misenheimer. Springs, where they will spend most of the time. The horse of Mrs. Leah Kluttz, of , No. 6 township, which iwas bitten by a mad dog about four iweeks ago, devel oped a case of hydrophobia last Sat urday which resulted in the death of the horse. Mr. James Lacy McLean, of Maxton, has been elected principal of Central Graded school. Mr. McLean is a first honor graduate of Davidson Col lege and has also taken his A. M. de gree there. Lexington Dispatch: Dr. Davis, rector of the Episcopal church, will hold his Inst service here on the 4th Sunday. After that be will retire from the ministry, and will go to Athens, Ga., to make 'his home with his son. Lexington Dispatch: Miss Lettie Slioaf entertained a few friends last Wednesday morning in honor of Misses Ada Stirewalt and Miss Laura Ridenhour, her guests. The-remains of Mrs. James Horn- buskle arrived this morning from Reidsville, and were taken to Forest Hill Methodist . church, where the funeral was held at 11 o clock, con ducted by Rev. W. L.
