The next term of Cabarrus Kuiterior Court will be held in Augrtst. not July. During the past week the impression has become almost general here that Superior I court meets next month and numerous inquiries have been made here as to the exact time the next session of the court will be held. Quite a bit of work has been done re cently on the Concord-Charlotte road. I Several large stretches of the mail have j been paved recently. and one report reaching Concord states that most of the j stretches will be connected during the I next several weeks. The work is prog ressing favorably now both in Mecklen burg and Cabarrus counties. Four defendants were tried in record er's court here Friday, the four men be ing tried on six counts. One man was fined $2;» for having liquor and sls for being intoxicated. Bob Crockett, negro, charged with assault with a deadly weapon in two counts, was forced to pay the costs. The four defendants paid a total of $55 in lines. Prohibition Agent Widenhouse and Deputy Sheriff Caldwell seized tw’o new stills near Thunderstruck Bridge Fri day. The stills had been cut out but had not been placed together. They were of about 20-gallon capacity. Thursday, according to a report here, Mr. Widen house seized a complete still just across the line in Stanly, a few miles below Mt. Pleasant. Equipment to be used iu the construc tion of the new home of the Cabarrus Savings Bank is being received here dai ly now. Part of the huge crane which . will j>lay such an important part in the erection of the steel work on the build ing. has been placed on the ground, and other equipment is being received daily by the contractors. The work of prepar ing the concrete base for part of the | structure continues. A snap of real cool weather struck this j county Friday afternoop and night. From torrid summer temperature the mercury dropped to spring■ temjierature, | and a few light overcoats were seen, on the streets here Friday night and morning. No hailstorm was reported in j this section of the country Friday, but l the drop in the temperature indicated | that hail fell somewhere in the surround- I ing territory. , A number of cotton mills in this coun i• ty will be idle i>art of -next week. Mrs. Armstrong d received her appointment from Epworth I League headquarters at Nashville, Tenn., and is as far as known the only repre sentative from this section. lIjANNAPOIA TEAM WINS J FROM S>VIFT AGGREGATION Eleven Inning Gnae Played at Kannapo lis Thursday.—Tno Games For Neat Saturday. , In one of the snappiest games played in Kannapolis this year, the Cabarrus Y team of that city won from the Swift Manufacturing team of Charlotte Tiniro da.v afternoon iu an eleven inniug game. The tiual score wns 2 to 1, and play throughout the game was of the smart est type. Today the Kannapolis team has goue to t'ooleemee. and expects to win the game easily. Next Saturday. April 7th. Albemarle will play two games in Kannapolis. The Kannapolis mills will be closed, and for that reason two games were arranged. The first will be player) in the morning, and rhe second in the afternoon. Baseball in Kannapolis this year has been so popular that it has been neces sary to double tne seating eapaoity of the grandstand at ihe park. Large crowds have attended all of the games and still larger, crowtis are exacted for the remainder of the season.
