October 3, 1923, Concord. North Carolina. Mr. and Mrs. Prindell have gone to western North Carolina to spend some days, after which they will be at home for the present at Coijeord. Mrs. Prin dell, who is a young woman of attractive personality, comes from one of States ville's oldest families, and the announce- 1 ment of her marriage will be received with great interest. Mrs. Prindell possesses a fine soprano voice and her singing has given Statesville audiences pleasure on many occasions. Mr. Prindell, who is a native of Cum berland. Md„ is a teacher of voice and a sipger of attainment. For some months he has been soloist at the First Presbyterian Church of Concord, where he has maintained a vocal studie. Re cently he opened a second studio here. Mr. Prindell is a tenor, and his singing, both before the local Rotary Club and at the First Presbyterian Church, was warmly received. After graduating from graduating from the New England Con servatory of Music, he studied several years abroad. He has been in both concert and opera in this country. The scientist said he had not the Slightest belief that any oc cult influence wa« responsible for the death of the Earl of Carnarvon, who suc cumbed to fever after discovering the tomb. and\ that he had no fears for him self in that direction. THE CONCORD DAILY TRIBUNE MITCHELL TERM OF COURT TO CONVENE ON OCTOBER 22 Sperlal Term Called On First Legal Day; Judge Finley Will Preside. Raleigh News and Observer. A special term of Mitchell County Su perior Court was called yesterday for Monday, October 22. and Governon Mor rison expects the action to do much to relieve the tense situation created- in the county last Wednesday by an alleged as sault upon Mrs. Mack Thomas, which' was followed by the forced deportation of all the negro laborers in the conn- I t.v. flic Governor expressed confidence' that the local authorities will create an | organization sufficient to insure the en forcement of law and order and that it. | will not be necessary to keep troops in the county indefinitely but indicated lie will keep them there as long ns their presence seems necessary. Expressing regret that under the law a court could not be convened next week, the Governor yesterday fixed the date of sthe court for the oaricst possible dav under the law and cancelled the criminal term of court scheduled for Avery county on the week of October 22 in order that Judge T. B. Finley and Solicitor John J. Ha yes. the resident judicial officers of thd district, may officiate at the Mitchell County court. A special term of court will be giveu Avery county later, if de sired. John Goss, the negro who escaped from a State convict camp at Spruce Pine im mediately after the alleged assault, has been positively identified by Mrs.,Thom as. the Governor awaiting this action before calling the term of court. It is expected that about 75 leaders in file movement to deport the negroes will also be arrested and tried at the special term. London Fears Stressmann’s Fall May Mean Civil War lor Germany.
