Ttye following announcement as carried In The Charlotte Observer will be of in terest here, where Mr. Lowe resided for a number of years: Dr. and Mrs. Charles A. Bland an nounce the marriage of their daughter. Mary Terry, to Mr. David Lowe, in Lan caster, S. C., August 10. No announcement was made- of the marriage on account of the serious illness of Mrs. Bland. Mr. and Mrs. Lowe re turned last night from Raleigh, where they have been visiting friends for sev eral days, and are at the Bland home tin Selwyn Avenue, Myers park. Mrs. Lowe is the only daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Bland, and is a grand-dabghter' of the late Mr. and Mrs. It, Y. McAden, on her mother's side, and the late Dr. M. A. Bland and his first wife, on her father's side. She represents two of Charlotte's most infiueutial and promi nent old families, and is a brilliant and charming girl. Mr. Lowe is a son of Mr. and Mrs. S. .T. Lowe, of East avenue, the former a leading real estate man "and a member of a prominent family iu this section, the latter of the McDowell family. one of Mecklenburg's oldest aud most historic families. News of the marriage will be of wide interest in North Carolina society. Sloop -Alexander. Charlotte Observer. The home of Mr. and Mi's. John 11. Weddington, on East Seventh streets was the scene of a pretty wedding Saturday evening at ti o'clock, when Mrs. Wed- sister. Miss Rebecca Alexander, became the bride of Mr. Brice Sloop, of Harrisburg. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Dty Wm. H. Frazer, president of Queens college, in the presence of a few rela tives jud friends. Miss Ruth Fuqua, of Greensboro, rendered piano music for the occasion. Miss Esther Caldwell, also of Greensboro, presided over the bride's book. In the living room, the decorations were of green and white. Ferjns am} white chrysanthemums interspersed with white candles formed a mound in the cottage window, before which the vows were spoken. Vases and baskets of yel low chrysanthemums and other cut (low ers were used in the dining room and re ception hall, carrying * out the color scheme of yellow and green. For the past two years Mrs, Sloop has lived in -Greensboro, where sh% held ti positiou in the office of the Southern railroad Company. During the last two \veeks, prior to Ijer marriage Mrs. sloop was delightfully entertained by friends both in Greensboro and Charlotte, atftl was the recipient of a number of beauti ful and useful gifts. Mr. Sloop is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sloop, of Harrisburg, and is a promising young farmer of Cabarrus county. He saw nearly two years ser vice overseas during the world war with the Slst division of the A. E. F. After a short wedding trip Mr. and Mrs. Sloop will be at home tit Harrisburg, N. A most enthusiastic and well attended meeting of the Woman's Missionary So ciety of Muir's Chapel Methodist Church Was held Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Jay Cook, Pomona. Forty-fivc members and visitors were present. The devotional exercises were conducted by Rev. C. F. Sherrill, pastor. Mrs. R: IL, Boren, chairman of the local work, re ported more than SBOO had been raised during the year. Immediately following the dismissal of the society Mrs. C. F. Sherrill, who has been president two years, was In vited to the dining room .where to tier great surprise she found a large table loaded with beautiful and useful gifts from the members, small tokens of their appreciation and affection.
