Warmer weather was Concord’s
portion today following several days
of low temperatures. It became
somewhat warmer during the night
and the sun was out again in full
glory this morning, sending the mer
cury climbing again.
Members of the Concord Kiwanis
Club will meet at the Y. M. C. A.
for the remainder of this month. Be
ginning with their first meeting in
July they will gather weekly at the
new Hotel Concord. The Rotary
Club already is meeting at the hotel.
All boys who want to join the
“Sunday Gang” for another year
are asked to be present at the Y.
M. C. A. lawn Sunday afternoon at
4 o’clock. All boys from 6 to 18 years
of age are eligible. Tlie jury for next
year will also be elected at the meet
ing.
Major Kenneth E. Caldwell, inspec
tor general of the troops of North
Carolina, has been ordered to report
to Camp Glenn on July 4th to serve
as camp inspector during the annual
encampment of North Carolina guards
men. He will be at camp several
weeks.
Five eases are to be tried in re
corder's court this afternoon, police
officers stated this morning. One de
fendant is charged with assault, an
other with assault on a female, an
other with assault with a deadly
weapon, another with operating a car
while intoxicated and another with
speeding.
The number of people learning to
swim during the “Learn to Swim”
campaign at the Y. M. C. A. is in
creasing steadily. Many older people
are taking the lessons privately from
Mr- Denny and are having quite as
much success in learning to swim a*

at once if you want to learn to swim.
