In Memory WILLIAM H. PHIPPS In loving memory of Staff Sgt. William H. Phipps, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Phipps, who was killed in action, No vember 16, 1944. He was born in Ashe county, June 12, 1921, making him at tlut time of his death, 23 years, f^e months and four days ol | age. ! He volunteered for duty in the ! Maryland Division, National Guard, in 1939. In 1940 he joined the 115th Infantry, 29th Divi sion. He was sent overseas in September, 1942, where he be came engaged in active service for his country. "Mom, don’t worry about me. I have changed.” Those words will be cherished by her always. Besides his parents, he left one brother, Thomas Virgil Phipps, Havre de Grace, Md., two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Senter and Mrs. Merle Brown, with other relatives and friends.
