Tin1 following sports nows was writton by Betty Jewell King, spirts editor of The I.ansonian: “The high school basketball tournament was held March 21 through April 1, with teams from each class from the sixth through I the twelfth grades entering. Be ginning the series of games were the seventh grades A and B, with the 7B girls winning by a score of 11-6 and 7A boys win ning 42-1. The second game was a very interesting one between 8A and 8B, with 8B taking a double victory. The girls’ score j was 8 9. and the boy’s score was j 18-7. The eleventh grade dcfeat I ed the ninth grade girls and i boys. The eleventh boys won by ' a score of 16-4 and the girls, 16 i 20. The tenth grade boys and I girls defeated the twelfth teams I by a girls’ score of 25-8 and a boys’ score of 14-7. Beginning the second week of playing, the sixth grade boys de feated tin 7A boys 10 7, and the 7B girls defeated the sixth girls 4-0 The second game that week was another double victory for the tenth grade when they de feated tlic eighth grade. The girls’ score was 14-7 and the bovs’ 20 2. The eleventh took an other double victory the third day. the boys winning from the sixth and the girls from 7B. Then came the finals between the 10th and 11th grades. One of the hardest and most exciting games of the tournament was the girls’ game, when the tenth won by a score of 20 20. Sally Burkett was high scorer for the tenth grade with sixteen points and Elisabeth Aar. Barr for the losers with eh btem points. The boss' game was another exciting affair, when the tenth won 20 22. High scoring for the winners was Breeee Sturgill, with eleven points and for the losers, Charl es Dolinger. v. itli eleven points.
