. ' i ' '. a VOCATIONAL
REHABILITATION.
One of our pleasures is in meeting
sad discussing with the various men
connected with the different phases of
? waptfar* work in this State. One day
last week Mr. Paul J. Ranson, asst.
supervisor of Vocational Rehabilitation,
favored ua with a call, and we
were greatly interested in the work
Ids board is doing. He was here for
the purpose of seeing what could be
dane for some four or Ave boys who
nee crippled and diseased, and are at
. their families. He told U9 of many
' vf"
caeca where this hoard had taken
men and boys of this class?some of
them charges upon their county, and
made self supporting. It is a wonderful
work.
iFew of our people know anything
about this phase of work and we are
giving a short synopsis of what it is
doing. Read it:
I. Its Purpose
It is the purpose of Vocational Rehabilitation
to render physically
handicapped persons lit to engage in
occupations which will make thom
self-supporting, thereby creating happiness
and contentment among those
individuals and families affected, .reducing
the number of those seeking
. charity, lowering county and stafs
expenses for publiq charges, and
cheeking social agitation and distress
through proper social and economic
methods.
. II. Methods of \Vcrk
Vocational .Rehabilitation- consists
of three phases?advisement, training,
and placement. The disabled per'
-sou is counseled in the selection of a
desirable vocation; then given trainmg
for the occupation selected ard
* , agreed upon in such a manner that
The trainee may later use the information
pained to follow Itw -chosen vocation;
and upon the completion ot
hi* training every effort fa made to
??- ' place the rehabilitant in satisfactory
.employment. The placement in eml
. ploy men t is followed up with careful.
systematic regard for the ultimate
success of the rehabilitation proorram.
III. Who Are Eligible
To l>e eligible for rehabilitation one
s muni.
1. Have a physical defect or infirmity,
whether constitutional oV1 acquired
by accident, injury, or disease,
2. Be totally partially incapacitated
for remunerative occupation.
. 2. Reasonably be expected to be
. fit tO'engage in a remunerative occupation
after completing a rehabilitation
coarse. ~
4. Be sixteen years of age or over.
There is no upper age limit sc
long: as rehabilitation is feasible.
5. Have been a bona fide resident
of the State of North Carolina al
the time the disability was incurred
or have lived in thp Sfcn^ nt loont
one yeor prior to time of matctnt? application
for aid. c
The disabled person may be male 01
female, and of any race.
V. How You May Help I
You can materially aid this greal
movement by reporting any disabled
man or woman in your community tc

Wash Fabrics can no longer be called s

"This is a vital part of the new standard of :

Here are fabrics which can be treated exactly
as you treat white materials. You can p
