LATEST LAVREL
HARDY COMEDY
A GRAND TREAT
When two wife-bedeviled hus
bands. Laurel and Hardy, find that
they must attend their lodge's con
vention in Chicago, despite the
strenuous objection of Hardy's wife,
the latter invents a fictitious ill
ness. With the assistance of a
friendly horse doctor, who poses as
an ethical physician, a trip to Ha
waii is prescribed as a sure cure
with the pair leaving for Chicago
instead.
The resultant story-telling brings
l>about a series of embarrassing sit
uations, which with the assistance
of Laurel and Hardy and Charley
Chase, as the letter's brother-in
law, becomes a mirth-provoking
| film that should make "Sons of the
j Desert" the comedy hit of the year.
It will be shown at Palace Theatre
at Special Shows Friday night at
11:30 and Saturday morning 10:30.
Hits New Comedy High
The production brings out the
i best in that outstanding team of
j funsters, Laurel and Hardy. Their
escapade^ in the convention city and
i their return home turns the film
into a comedy that even in these
| times hits a pre-depression high.
I With the assistances of Charley
Chase, who proves an unbeknown
brother-in-law of Hardy's, the latter
' and Laurel help enliven the conven
j tion even though it causes them, in
1 severan incidents, near tragedy.
Their return home and. the ex
pose of their prevarication by
"friend wives," Mae Busch and Dor
othy Christy, ere climaxes to a
story that carries out the best tra
difions fo this outstanding pair.
