THE "Hellenian," last year so
far as the get up and contents of
the book were e.oncerned was a de
cided success. From a financial
standpoint it was ?. decided failure.
The present shape that the "Hel
lenian,' ; matters are in suggests the
idea that since its' inception the
Editors have been - pursuing the
wrong course in regard to the-, pub
lication of the book: .The ; pub
lication of it has-always been de
layed until very.. near.-, Commence
ment and generally it arrives at
the most disadvantageous time to
dispose of it. It is generally known
that people who advertise ; iiv such
publications always place.' .their., ad
vertisements at the beginning of ,
the. year, and in the past the. Edi
tors have, not:; been elected until
after Christmas, then it is too late
to secure, paying. 'advertisements.
tMt does: seem from present obser

year's bad results, that .in .the. , fu

WATER WORKS. .
One of the departments : most : to
be desired, in University equipment
is an effective and convenient system,
of water works. . This, thanks to a
generous legislature, has at length
been provided us and indubitably
the Hygenic conditions hereabouts
as. individually related will greatly
improve. A dozen hydrants station
ed about the campus offers - protec
tion in case of fire, While underneath
the Library are placed faucets, tubs,
shower baths and all other: appara
tus necessary to the health and
comfort of Collegians.' The shower
bath, especially, will prove a source
of much pleasure and godd result to
the; training: foot ball men; Two
large tanks1 situated in the 'South
