PERSONAL AND LOCAL. Rev.' Mr. Pearson will leave us Friday evening-. The Gun Club will practice here after on Saturday afternoons. The Phillogical club held their regular monthly meeting- Tuesday night. Misses Lyon and Crews of Dur ham have been visiting- at Dr. Rob- erson s. This is bad weather for base-ball practice but the g-ymnasium work still goes on. The A. T. O.'s have established a tennis court to the ( west of the Athletic Field. Exchange Editor Howell has been suffering- with a severe sore-throat for the past few days. Dr. Ball doesn't like to gather up stray tennis balls any more then the rest of us, but he does it gracefully just the same. "Mickey" Southerland plays ten nis like the Irishman plays the fid dle, by main strength. Mr. J. O. Carrihas been confined to his room for the past few days. We hope to see him out again soon. Dr. Venable spent Tuesday and Wednesday in Raleigh, attending a meeting of the- State Board of Health. The Glee, Banjo and Mandolin Clubs left Wednesday morning and will give their first concert at Lou- isbunr. When Leader Batman pitches a tune seven octaves below where it ought to be, watch Bahnson's face as he reaches for it. Mrs. Jno. G. Williams, of Ral eigh, 'and Mrs. Closs, of Durham, are visiting Mayor Watson, and at tending the Pearson meetings. Gregory of last year's team, made his first appearance on the practice field last Thursday, and Capt. Old ham smiled one of his Haywood street smiles. . While sliding bases one after noon last week Henderson was hit on the head with a base-ball. He soon recovered. Capt. Oldham will report on the condition of the ball as soon as he can find it. The candidates for the ball team have been batting and running bases for the last few days. , It is too early yet to speculate on probabil ities, or we would give a few words about them. ' The members of the law class who are to leave Saturday were very pleasantly entertained at the home of Dr. Manning Tuesday even- We have a very interesting arti cle from the Red and Blue which we will shortly give to our readers. It shows a condition identical with our own, and might be transferred bodily to our columns without chang ing a word. The editors dout seem to have any strings tied to them. L. I. Guion ' has been installed in the Delta Kappa Epsilon. Jn spite of the bad weather " a good crowd turned out to the Glee Club concert Friday night. The following members of the Law Class will apply for license before the Supreme Court next Saturday: Messrs. Gnthrie, Watkins, White, Shuford, Johnson, Pruden, Benuet, Long and Edwards. A Toast. He has been .attending the Pearson meet tings and became very much enthus ed over them, but he hasn't lost the taste for his favorite sport as the following conversation shows: "Dr. C, if I get religious and die will I go to heaven?" Dr. C. "Of course." "Will I have wings there?" "Certainly." i "Will you be there too?" "Yes, I hope so." "And will 3rou have wings too?" "Yes."
