Mr. Covington '98, went home
last Wednesday, on account of sick
ness in his family. We hope cir
cumstances will permit him to re
turn in a few days'.
The young ladies of the village
are very busy with a sheme. What
it is they will not tell, but the ora
cle says there will be some interest
ing developments in a few days.

his spring vacation with old class
mates on the Hill. He will return
to Lafayette College where he is
pursuing a course in advanced Math

rather perhaps its passing, comes:
the influx of poetic effusions, young
man's fancies, and thoughts of the

erary spirit is not dead in the Uni
ersity. Don't forget the Shakespere Club
meeting next Thursday night. A
few interesting papers will be read
and moreover, we will not have the
pleasure of very many more meet
ings this term, on account of the
proximity of Commencement.
The Goit Club .
The University Golf Club was
organized Feb. 29th. with 32 mem
bers. At that time the following officers
were elected:
President, Dr. Baskerville.
Vice-Pres., F. A. Gudger.
Sec. and Treas., W. S. Howard.
The following, constitution was
adopted:
The name shall be the University
Golf Club. Any student shall be
eligible for membership, which shall
be limited to forty in number . ' No
system of black balling shall obtain
but members shall be elected as the
applications are made.
The initiation fee shall be fifty
cents, payable within two weeks
after election. On ' failure to pay
within the limit the membership
shall be forfeited. The money col
lected shall be used for the prepar
ation of the Links and the purchase
of certain sticks and necessary ar
tides. Each man must provide
himself with the ordinary stick.
Tne Playing Rules shall be' those
of the Regular Golf Association
The Officers of the Association
shall be as follows; President, Vice
President, and Sec'y and Treasurer
io be elected annually by ballot.
None but members shall make
use of the Links.
Any student may become a mem
ber until the limit of 40 is reached.
The Club has laid out a neat
course of nine links, extending about
np ami half miles about the cam
pus. We hope the Golf Club wil
prove the success other Clubs have
attained elswhere.
