Watch their Ad. in Next Issue. A Wonderful Invention. Zoology teaches that the hairs of the head are hollow, and contain an oil that gives them life. In dippiug the hair with scis sors,. this hollow is left open, and the hai loses its life-giving properties. I have a Machine named the Silisreinar Ma chine, which removes the hair and at the same time closes up the hollow, causing the hair to retain its life-giving properties, and therefore stopping the hair from falling out or dying, and giving it a soft growth. Call and examine this machine and have your hair singed. Special attention given to dressing La dies' hair. Cutting done with exquisite and srtistis skill by the old University Barber of twenty years experience. . Ihe singing machine is highly recom mended by scientists throughout the country Very Respectlully, T. D. DUNSTAN, Professor of Tonsorial Art, Continued From First Page. Third Trinity Game. medal for that member of the team making the highest batting average for the seasoni In his offer he ex cepted his brother though from the first it was the wish of the team and of of the Athletic Association that this exception not be made. Now that Lawson has fairly won the med al it is hoped that it will be awarded him. . . Next to Lawson comes Belden who has been pointed out from the first of the season as one of our strongest hit ters and fielders. The Tar Heel and College regret exceedingly the loss of "Jack Arthur.'" This "was IJelden's fifth year at college and now that he is gone his loss will be felt in our Athletics more than that of any other man, Belden was left fielder on the great champion team of '96. second base man last year and this season. He was full back on the '96 foot-ball team and played in the same place and was Captain in '97. The teaf: , showed th'eir appreciation ,of his vork and their estimate of his ability as the greatest fullback in the south by elec ting him Capt. for '98. Upon the new gateway at the en trance to the Cornell campus will be .placed this inscription: "To en ter, that thou mayest become more learned and thouhtful; to depart, that daily thou mayst become more respectful to thy country and man kind". ; :t The Southern Inter-Collegiate Athletic Associaton has formulated a new set of rules to govern Foot ball in the Colleges belonging to the Association. Some of the noticable new rules and changes are the fol lowing: . After a goal has been kicked, the side against which the score was made, can have it's choice of kicking off or, receiving the kick. This was for the benefit of weak teams. - Some changes were made in the number of points in scoring: goal from the field is 4, goal from place kick is 3, safety is 2, touchdown is 4, and goal from touchdown is 1. There must be seven men on the line of scrimmage. A player is to be put off the field for swearing or using vulgar lan guage of any kind. The Umpire, Referee and Lines men are compelled to give testimony to each other of any violation of rules seen by any of them. The Linesmen, with two assistants, has charge of the five-yard string and he also keeps the time.
