X Senior Class Poem.
On the crest of college life I pause
,
My track has crossed, environed by
The fertile fields of circumstance.
And hare and there I may diseern
Some little plot my hands have" tilled
Compelling its small harvest ; but
How small beside the store I willed!
Geologies and Engish Ten
Are all and every thingil've passed;
While round my struggling "footsteps are
Trig., Psyc, aud Junior Physics massed.
And now these ready fields rebuke
My sloth and lack of patient care,
Sad deserts stretching far and wide,
Gaunt trees which Sodom's apples bear.
For I have reached the Senior Class
And other fields await my hand;
Commencement Day will soon be here,
. Ah ! Shall I join that happy band?
What brief allotment may be given
The remnant of my finite power,
Still I must gird myself to do
My duty, at the eleventh hour.
Y. M. C. A. Leaders For this Week.
.Monday night, Prof. Gore.
Tuesday night, Mr. L.B. Wilson.
Wednesday night, Mr. Greening.
Thursday night, Mr. Alison.
The public is cordially invited to
take part in the Y.M.C.A. services.
It is a student organization and con
ducted by students for the benefit
of students. The officers are striv
ing every da' to make the services
more attractive and interesting. It
will pay students to participate in
the exercises. The association
meets four times a week at 7:15
o' clock in the Chapel.
Early in the term Dr. Alderman
called the Senior Class together in
the Chapel and gave many h-elping
suggesting by which the class
might profit. These the class app
reciated and are endeavoring to
carry out. But there is one thing
that he mentioned which the seniors
built much hope upon aud yet that
one thing seems to have slipped his
memory. He promised to call the
Seniors together from time to time
and address them upon the leading
social and political question of the
day. We recognize the fact that
the president's time is very valuable
that no spare moments fall to his
share but the Senior Class has his
promise and feels that it could not
relieve him from it and do justice
to its self. So even should this
conflict with other duties, it is no
more than right that some of them
should give way to this one. The
Senior Class is about to go out into
life and while they are taken up
with their work in the class-room
these addresses thrown in from time
to time would well serve" to keep
them more thoroughly in 'touch
with the problems of the day.
Then there is another thing we
would like to call to the attention
of the faculty. The system of fac
ulty lectures on each .Friday night
of last year has fallen into disuse.
Why can't we have them again?
Surely' tis not lack of an audience
for last year the hall was always
full.

English 6 at Harvard is a debat
ing society.
Harvard defeated Yale by a score
of 16-4 in the Inter Collegiate Golf
match.
The total registration at Yale is
2500; that of Harvard is 3774.
Judging from an editorial in the
F. and M. Weekly of last issue, the
students of Franklin ami Marshal
College are determined to retain
their teacher of Elocution and ora
tory although the authorities plead
"financial embarrasment". This
shows a noble spirit in the students.
If we are not provided with one
after Xmas we see no reason why
we should not follow the example
of the students of , Franklin and
Marshal.

A Wonderful Invention.
Zoology teaches that the hairs of the head
are hollow, and contain an oil that gives
them life. In clipping the hair with scis
sors, this hollow is left open, and the hair
loses its life-giving properties.
I have a Machine named the Singeing Ma
chine, which removes the hair and at the
same time closes up the hollow, causing the
hair to retain its life-giving properties, and
therefore stopping the hair from falling out
or dying, and giving it a soft growth.
Call and examine this machine and have
your hair singed.
Special attention given to dressing La
dies' hair. Cutting done with exquisite and
srtistis skill by the old University Barber
of twenty years' experience.
The singing machine is highly recom
mended by scientists throughout the country.
