The committee appointed by the Legislature to look into the condi tion of the University will arrive up on the Hill Thursday Morning. Prof. M. C. S. Noble, returned to the Hill on Tuesday Morning from Selma, N. C, where he had been on a visit to his father. Had it not been for the rare pres ence of mind of Mr. E. S. Askew '99, a serious conflagration would have swept the village of Chapel Hill on Monday night. This gen tleman was walking by Pickard's stable on that night and detected a fire burning in the express office. With the aid of a driver sleeping there he quickly put out the fire which was spreading rapidly. No damage was done except the burning of a few things of no value. Read Walter's Ad. on page 2.
