More About the "Co-op." Communicated. ,. Sometime ago there appeared in: the Tar Heel, an article concern-1 ing that "monumental fake" the so called Co-operative store. The author of this article expressed his views, with which the greater part of college is in hearty sympathy, on the propriety of allowing- the rapa cious owner of this "co-op." to oc cupy a room in college, thereby giv ing him such an advantage of posi tion over other similar business houses in the village, in which the student body has as much interest as in this "co-op." and where they are more fairly dealt with. The author of the former article evidently was under the misappre hension that some members of the faculty held stock in this affair, but the writer of this has been positive ly informed tha- such is not the case, and that the sole ownership and contract of the business are in the hands of the"manager." It is unfair to theothet dealers in the village that he should be allowed his present position of advantage in a college building and it is worse than a reflection on the University that he should be allowed to style himself the "University Co-operative store" the better to fleece his patrons, really his victims. Let the University authorities remove him from a college building, and then let us establish what will prove to be a Co-operative society in more than name, in whose benefits more than one can share.
