OUR SECOND GAME. 5V The Oak Ridge Team Defeated by a Score of 16 to 0. The Visitors Play Well. The game last Thursday was a pretty exhibition of ball playing from start to finish. The visitors .played excellent ball and the line-bucking- of Bennett was perfect. But on account of the warm weath er neither side was able to put up its best game. The game was per fectly clean, straightforward play ing being used entirely. The game was called at 1:30 P. M. with the home team defending the east goal. Bennett sends the ball whirling 35 yards to Shull who comes 15 yards before being downed. Coxe takes ball and goes thru the line for 2 yards and then for 3 yards. Koehler rushes 6 yards, and Mclver runs over left end for 7 more. The ball is fum bled thus losing 4 yards. Coxe rushes line for 3 yards. Graves drops back and makes a pretty 40 yard punt to Bennett who is tack led by Osborne and is thrown back. Visitors fumble losing 1 yard. oyner goes around left for 20 yards. Ball goes to Carolina as one of the Oak Ridge men is out of bounds.,. Coxe advances the ball 2 yards, Koehler 4 yards, Coxe 4 yards and Koehler again 5 yards. Oak Ridge off side giving N. C. 10 yards. Coxe makes 5 yards, Koeh ler 3 yards, Graves rushes line for 4 yards and then 1 yard. Koehler makes 6 yards and Graves goes over for touch-down. Time 7X minutes. Graves fails to kick goal. Score, N. C.-5 O. R.-0. Bennett kicks 35 yards borne who grains 20 vards. Isroes over centre for 0 vards and Mclver around end for 8 yards. N.C. off side. Oak Ridge makes forward pass giving ball back to Varsity. Coxe gains A yards and Varsity again off side. Joyner gains 1 yard and then 1. Phifer, W. relieves Rankin at left guard. Graves kicks off 40 yards to Tomlinson who comes up 5 yards but fails to gain in the rush Wright gains 1 yard. Bennett makes short kick and Daughteridge gets' ball, the visitors gaining in this 15 yards. Wright fails and the ball then goes to N. C. as O.R has an improper line formation. Koehler runs around right end for 15 yards and then rolls 10 more yards. Coxe gains 4 yards thru the line and again 4 yards. Graves gains 1 yard. Koehler goes over but is called back as O. R. is off side. Varsity given one half of the distance to the line. Koehler a gain takes the ball and jumps the whole line for a touch-down. Time 4.j minutes. Graves kicks goal. Score, N. C.-ll O. R.-O Bennett kicks off across the line and ball is brought out to 25 yard line and punted by Graves to Ben nett who is tackled by Simpson. Bennett goes thru for 2 yards and then fails, Tomlinson also fails and the ball goes to Varsity. Koehler goes -around right end for 23 yards. Oak Ridge off side giving Varsit' 10 yards."" Coxe gains A yards. Koehler makes 15 yards. Coxe 4 yards. Graves rushes for 5 yards and then 4 yards. Coxe gains yard and Graves goes over the line. Time S minutes. Graves fails to kick goal. Score, N. C.-16 O. R.-O On the next kick off the ball by several rushes is brought within 1 yard of touch-down line but is here fumbled and gotten by O. R. who kick it out and time is called with the ball on their 10 yard line. Bellamy relieved Coxe toward the end of the game and did excel lent work. The game between the Universi ty and Guilford was called Satur day at 2 P. M. with the visitors de fending the west goal. Graves kicks off for Carolina and sends the ball 40 yards to Hill who advances 15 yards. Then follows the prettiest part of the game, as Guilford makes our line for several steady erains. Guilford fumbles and Shull falls on the ball. . Coxe gees around the end for 15 yards, thru centre for 4 yards and then 5 yards. Graves punts 45 yards to Dalton who is tackled by Osborne before being able to ad vance. Reynolds goes around left end for 5 yards. Daniels makes 3 yards. Farlow 3 yards. Cowles fumbles the ball and Simpson gets it. Coxe hits the line for 5 yards and Koehler follows with 8 yards. Graves goes over centre for 2 yards and then 3 yards. Coxe makes the remaining 8 yards for a touch down. Time 9 minutes. Koehler fails to kick goal. Sf.nrc, N. C. -5 Guilford -0. Dalton kicks off to Phifer who comes 5 yards. Koehler goes a round right end for 3 5 yards. Coxe makes 1 yard and then 2 yards. Koehler fails to make the other 2 yards. Ball goes over to Guilford. The visitors make steady gains thru our line, but are soon held down and Dalton punts, but ball is brought back and given to N. C, as Guilford had wrong line forma tion. Coxe and Koehler gain 10 yards thru line and Koehler covers right end for 20 yards. After a few short rushes Koehler carries ball over for touch-down. Time 8.2 minutes. Graves kicks goal. Score, N. C.-ll Guilford-0 Cowles kicks to Shull who ad vances 20 yards. Graves punts 35 yards to Dalton, who fumbies and Koehler gets ball. Coxe makes 6 yards, Koehler 4 yards and Coxe 1 yard. Graves goes over centre for 8 yards and then 3 yards. Koehler makes the remaining 4 yards to touch-down line. Time 2-i minutes. Graves kicks goal. Score, N. C.-17 . Guilford-0 Time called for the first half. Second Half. Bellamy relieves Coxe at right half. Dalton kicks across the back line and ball is punted 40 yards by Graves to Reynolds who advances 10 yards, Farlow makes 2 yards. Reynolds 2 yards and Hill fails to make the required 1 yard. Varsity gets ball. Bellamy gains 3 yards. Koehler goes around 'end for 15 yards. Shull makes 3 yards. Ball fum bled and Guilford man gets it. Reynolds is thrown back 4 yards, Hill fumbles and Koehler gets the ball. Lawson takes Martin's place at quarter. Graves and Bellamy make long gains thru the line. Bellamy goes thru centre for 15 yards and Gra ves goes over the line for touch down. Time 6.3 minutes. Graves fails to kick goal. Score, N. C.-22 , Guilford-0 Love relieves Guilford's quarter; Phifer, W. takes Rankin's place at left guard. Dalton kicks to Shull who advan ces 20 yards. Graves punts 35 yards to Dalton who fumbles, Bel lamy gets ball and goes for a touch down. Time 1 minute. Graves kicks goal. Score, N. C.-28 Guilford-0 Dalton kicks again 35 yards to Shull who with Cunningham block ing for him, makes a touch-down. Time 20 seconds. Graves fails to kick goal. Score, N. C.-33 Guilford-0 Foust takes Shull's place a t left tackle. Dalton kicks 35 yards to Foust, who comes 20 yards. Graves punts, ball hits Guilford man and goes outside. Osborne gets ball. Koehler rushes 9 yards. Koehler is relieved by Richardson at left half. Bellamy gains 10 yards over end. Graves rushes 5 yards, Bel lamy 6 yards and Graves again goes thru line for 8 yards. Graves carries ball over the line and kicks goal. Score, N. C.-39 Guilford-0 Dalton kicks to Bellamy. Gra ves makes a 45 yard punt.Hill fum bles and Osborne gets the ball. Richardson goes over tackle for 20 yards. Bellamy goes thru line for 14 yards. Graves gets 4 yards. Richardson 10 yards. Graves 2 yards. Richardson makes touch down. Time 4 minutes. Graves kicks goal. Score, N. C.-45 Guilford-0 Game called,- so that visitors could catch the train, with six more minutes to play.
