The Rector and Vestry of the Chapel of the Cross-, desiring- to put on record a Minute of regard and remembrance, do not find it ;eawy to express their sense of loss and bereavement in the sudden tak in"" avvav of this faithful colleague ond co-la borer. Coming among'' us an utter stranger he at once cordially iden tified himself with the people and the interests of his adopted home Of a singular purity of character, and a gracious gentleness and cour tesy of bearing he soon won, and kept to the end, the affectionate es teem of all classes. Not the least notable was the unobtrusive yet winsome influence for gfood exerted by him upon his young associates among the University men, who spontaneously recognized in him an elder brother in sympathy, leader in thought and example. As Ves tryman and Junior Warden, his tactful energy, and ready resource fulness, and ever willing helpful ness have been invaluable; the which, now that he is gone, leaves a void but hardly to be filled. We thank God that so much of his companionship and co-operation have been irrauted us. And to those who stood to him in yet ten derer relations, we would respect fully offer our heartfelt sympathy, in as much as we do truly mourn an honored friend and a brother beloved. Signed: W. H. Meade, Rector, Kemp P. Battle, Senior Warden, Chas. Baskerville, Sec. R. S. McRae, T. J. Wilson, Jr., Archibald Henderson, M. C. S. Noble, Jas. C. McRae. Coach Reynolds Leaves, Mr. William A. Reynolds left yesterday afternoon for his home in Philadelphia. After spending some time there to fully recuperate from his serious attack of fever, he will go to Wilkesbarre, Pa., which will be his future home. Here, he and Mr. Jayne, who coached our football team for some time last fail, intend forming a co-partner-nership for the practice of law. "Billy" Reynolds has coached our football teams for the past three years, including the unbeaten team of '98, which won the undis puted title of Southern Champions. As a coach he has been of the greatest value, training light and green teams and bringing them to championship form. As a man he proved himself a proper gentleman and has endeared himself to us all by his never-failing courtesy and geniality, and this coupled with his knowledge ol the game, is the se cret of his success as a coach. He will ever have a warm place in the regard of us all who greatly re gret seeing him leave us. We know that the entire college join us in best wishes for the success of the leg-al firm of Jayne and Reynolds. . The University of California is to have a new gymnasium costing $2,000,000.
