Two weeks from today the student bodies of the two univer sities will take the Virginia capital by storm and fifteen thousand sons of the Old North State and the Old Dominion will gather at the Broad Street Park to witness the great game of the South. Apropos of this the Charlotte Observer says: . "It occasionally happens there are stronger and better matched teams of the South vieing with each other but nothing can take th place of the con sideration of ancient nvalry, of the double-state-wide interest, of the tra ditions and fame of the contesting Universities, and of the fifteen thous- nd cheering spectators." The Carolina-Virginia game is to the South what the Yale-Harvard game is to the North It is not always the game that decides, (though it of ten has decided) theSouthern Champion ship yet it always has been and al ways will be the game that brings to gether in friendly, but intense rival ry, two of the oldest and most honored state-universities in America. It is the game that is most deeply grounded in the traditions of the two universities, and it is the game to which the alumni turn, for around it cluster many cherished memories of their college days. The Varsity-Scrub Debate Last Friday night in the Phi Society Hall Messrs. K. D. Battle and John W. Umstead, Jr., debat ed the Carolina-Pennsylvania query with Messers. F . N. Cox and Mosley, the scrub debaters. The query is: Resolved, That the Pooling- of Inter-State Traffic Should be Legalized. The scrubs upheld the Pennsylvania side, which is the af firniative. The debate was spirited and the debaters acquittea them selves creditably. Messrs, Battle and Umstead showed a knowledge and grasp of the subject which will stand them in good stead to morrow in Philadelphia. Prof. H. H. Williams and C. W. Tillett, Jr., took issue with them at the close of the regular contest and called forth some lively rejoinders. Juniors Win From Seniors. The score Was 38 to 0, or thereabouts. The game promised at first to be close and ex citing, but towards the end of the first half Bingham seemed to lose heart, and three touchdowns were made in the last three minutes of play. In the secoud half the Fresh men did not exert themselves, but but only tried several different plays from punt formation, from which beautuui tor ward pas ses were pulled off. For 1912 Wins ton, Jones, Barker, Wood, and Hemphill came into prominence on several occasions, and all the line men held well. Ray's work at the end was the redeeming feature of Bingham's play.
