The constitution may not prove to be very interesting reading, but every student in college ought to read it thoroughly. The question of the financial difficulties of the Athletic Association is of vital importance to every student in the University. Any movement which is made to solve these dif ficulties is of even more inipor tance. The basketball season re-opens tomorrow night when Carolina meets Guilford, In the g-ames that have gone before the team as a whole has not shown any startling amount of form nor team work; nor has any " individual member of the team developer into an extraordinary star. This is due, however, more to the lack of practice than anything else The team, though light, is fast, and will rapidly develop into a good, fighting quint. 1 he team of this year, how ever, nor that of any other year, cannot develop into anything un less it receives more support from the students. Whether from sup posed lack of time or real lack of interest the student body has so far succeeded very well in staying away from the games. It has aided the team by its absence, not its presence. And it has sup j p c' ported the team' v.rMts ''college spirit," not by its two bits. As the matter now stands it is a question of existence not develop ment, with the team. It is only fair, how' ever, to say that the permanent, definite results would have been far larger had the Association been established in its own plant and organized so as to hold and gradually assimilate the men who openly expressed this initial in terest. The two men who presided over the two public meetings were leading educators of the city, graduates of mission schools, teachers for a number of years in the govern ment schools, of - the citv. and faithful members of the Christian Church. Eddy's meetings revealed in both of them a strong personal interest in the Association and afforded a rare opportunity of identifying them in a large and public way with Christianity be fore the student body of Hang- chow.
