Watt Stacy, '08, who is practic ing law in Wilmington, is beiny urged to enter the race for repre sentative of New Hanover County in the State legislature, During the basketball game with the Durham Y. M. C A. some one stole all the money that had been left in the clothes of the players. Fortunately this did not amount to more tlia,n fifteen dollars. Cy Long had a valuable gold watch taken from him. The Durham police are at work on the case. Dr. Archibald Henderson will deliver a lecture before the Mon day Afternoon Book Club of Win ston-Salem on March 23, on the subject, "The Modern Drama" with special reference to Bernard Shaw. The lecture will be made at the heme of Mrs. Lindsay Pat terson and this club will have as its guests all of the other clubs in the city. We quote the following from an advertisement issued by a Chapel Hill merchant announcing a bar gain sale: "Fearful destructions! A crashing, dazzling, smashing, tumbling, violent eruption that will shake the very foundation of competition and high prices Students in English and Geology will please take note. Dr. Archibald Henderson went to Charlottesville, Va., last Fri day where on Friday night he lectured before the Civic Club. Jos 'iscomin Sfhinx, Henry Blount at Baptist Church Henry Blount, pronounced by many the greatest humorist and lecturer that North Carolina has produced, will deliver his lecture cents. The proceeds of the en- tertatmnent will form the nucleus of the building fund forthe erec tion of an addition to the Baptist Church. ' The Salisbury Post says: Mr. Blount is an actor as well as a speaker, and his mimicry and wit are only excelled by his sound logic, his thrilling eloquence and profound oratory. Mr. Blount is inimitable as an interpreter of sentiment and his wurd pictures are so graphic that all who heard him were highly pleased with the beautiful and pathetic portrayals of character developed so natural ly by the gifted orator the most entertaining and f a s c i n a t i ng speaker on the American plat form, for he is an ideal orator eloquent, rhetorical, dramatic and thrilling, and ! we have never heard grander eloquence from the lips of any orator than that which flamed from his last night, and in our humble judgment he is one of the greatest orators this State has ever produced. adv DURHAM Y. M. C1 TAKES SECOND GAME The Y. M. C. A. won the sec ond of the series of games that is to be played with the University of North Carolina last night by the score of 26 to 18. This is the second game that the locals have taken away from Carolina and the last of the series will be play ed at Chapel Hill Monday week. The two teams last night were pretty evenly matched, Carolina being best on fouls and the Y. M. C. A. throwing the largest uumber of field goals. The passing of Karnes and Brinn for the Durham team was a splendid piece of team work, and Holcomb threw some long and difficult goals from the field. For Caro lina Long, one of the substitutes used at left forward, made one of the best individual scores of the evening. Smith also played a good game.
