The Dramatic Club's eastern trip this season was most success ful in every detail. Everywhere their presentation of Bernard Shaw's famous comedy "Arms and the Man" was greeted by enthusiastic audiences' who declared the play the best ever produced by the University Dn malic" Club." ' 'The press vis. ah Dra- "also very complimentary ' and com mended the splendid work of the members of the cast. - The ahimn j, in whose hands the advertising aud eutertaininff was placed, responded to the de-j mands made upon them with true Caro'.ina Srit. The hosts and hostesses in the various cities in which the play was presented were most cordial,.' affording the players the very best of enter ' taimnent. The first performance was 'given at St. ' Clary's oil Monday nitfbt, December 7. The girls' enjoyment of the play was most evident if the related applauses was an indication. Ki-v. Lay, principal of the school, was most hospitable in his . cntcrtaiunient of the Club. The' Carolina boys were given the joyful privilege of dining with some 300 of St, Mary's girls. In Goldsboro the players were given the honor of christening the new High School auditorium. - The audience was most appreciative; applauding only at rare intervals, . owing to the intense interest with . which they watched the unfolding of the plot. The Algonquin. Club extended the use of its rooms to the players while they were in the city. . . But it was in the city familiar ly and affectionately styled i 'Lit tle Washington'' that the Club was to receive the most enjoyable surprise of the whole trip a dance. After the disappearance of the rouge and crepe hair, the actors and actresses were- the guests of the Halcyon Club at a Tcrpsichorean Tea. The Beau Monde of Washington was t pres ent in all its lovliness. The fox trot and lulufado reigned su. prerae until cut short by the warning' strains of "Home Sweet Home" at 2 a, m. Processor George McKie accom panied the Club on the trip. His knowledge and skill were itide spendable., and it was mainly to his efforts that ; the various suc cesses of the play were attributed. The Electrical Kngidering Department, through the efforts of Prof. Daggett, has succeeded in securing- the loan of an Evin rude Motor which will be used by the students in their labora tory work. - ' DR. Young students: In your col lege careers you will encounter many a problem difficile solutu. Below -,ve have solved some for you and propounded others for your own solution. One of the first Sphinxes that you college men must face is the problem of the "eternal femi nine." How -are you going to solve the lady question? Look at history. Marcus Antony loved one woman: he had to commit suicide. Julius Caesar loved more: he was assassinated. What are we to do, young gentlemen? Why just remember Solomon, t lie wise: he loved a thousand, and lived happily ever afterwards, so they say. Patrick Henry -vas the ho id, "Give me liber ty or give we death") There are other disadvantages! n the posses sion of a thousand wives. You understand, if there were a thou sand better halves of you, you yourself would (see Fines College Algebra) uecessarily be a rather small fraction. How to boot your Professor is a prohlein which should be eluci dated. We give here one of the most popular methods. G r a t yuor Professor at least once per week per week; take a back seat (thereby hinting at your modesty) ; yawn frequently in a blase, sang froid manner (thereby indicating that you have long since attained a pluperfect knowledge of the sub ject)'; pull out your watch every five minutcs( shozving your eager ness to proceed to fresher f elds of know ledge); and be sure to an swer every easy rhetorical ques tion that your Professor intends to answer himself. This method has never been known to fail to fail the user. Another universal problem is how to pass First Math or First German. We ourselves can not solve it. Do you know how to Spot? Lend me your . cartilaginous sound-collecting funnels. I will tell you a sure spot. You will be asked to do it on your next exam. Sign the pledge. It has long been a source of mystification to all how Adam Applejack works it as he works it. But it is perfectly simple. He works by a table just like the linear measure table or the Metric System. ADAM APPLEJACK'S TABLE 10 cents i 1 nickel .10 nickels 1 quarter 10 quarters 1 pencil . 10 dollars 1 book lOstudents - 1 fortune Thus, young students, we have answered a few college questions on which we deemed it best to enlighten you.
