Dance is Scheduled For Saturday Night The lid comes off Saturday night when the terpsichorean artists from Company A will pirouette gaily on the Lght fantastic toe. At leaslt that's the present plan, and if noth ing goes amiss, Saturday night will usher in the first company dance. Many fair nymphs will be present and the most unambitious youth has already made it known that he in tends to dance off both his shoes. In connection with this it might be well to state that both drug stores have ordered car load supplies of Tiz. A hint to the wise is sufficient, as our good friend Bill Shakespear, did not say. A committee has been selected to make all arrangements for Com pany A's dance. This plan will be followed in succession by Cos.' B, C, and D. We begin ot "look alive." Some men are handy with tleir hands, and some with their feet. Some are knockers, and some are kickers. E. E. Society Meets for Formal Organization Practically all the members of the Electrical Engineering class were present at the initial meting in the Alumni Build.ng last Saturday night fo rthe purpose of organization. Promptly at seven-thirty the meet ing, was called to order by Prof. Mus tard, the instructor in Electrical En gineering, who was then elected by acclamation to act as temporary chairman. The first business to come before the meeting was the motion to form an organization of the Electrical En gineers. This was unanimous and Mr. Lear was asked to take imme diate steps toward having this society recognjzed by the national organiza tion. The following officers were then elected: Chairman, Mr. E. C. Balen tine; Treasurer, Mr. Haygood; Sec retary, Mr. J. E. Lear; Chairman Advisatory Committee, Prof. J. H. Mustard; Program Committee Chairman, Mr. P. C. Smith, Mr. C. H. Smith, and Mr. E. L. Lake. It is the intention of the members of the organization to make this one of the "Live wire" societies of the University. It was decided to meet every two weeKs, Saturday mgnt at seven-thirty. It was further decided that the meet ings should last one hour only in 1 1 . 1 ! a.1 . oraer xo not connict witn otner en gagements. - As Corresponding Secretary, Mr. Lear, who has had considerable ex perience along that line, intends to secure a series of lecture and educa tional films which will be exhibited at the meetings from time to time. Desmond: There's dirty work ahead. Esmond: What's up? Desmond: The battalion is going to take a bath. SHE KNEW THE GAME Me darling boy, there is a tale Of first sight love, hark to it. Give me your ear, I say steer clear, Lest, by the Gods, you rue it. A simple youth (so runs the tale And the lesson sad it teaches) Was so unwise as to surprise A damsel eatin' peaches. The foolish boy was to this time By love's fierce flame unharried But he alas, was such an ass, To love one who was married! He gazed at her with yearning eyes, He really was quite bad off, And when, with ruth, he learned the truth, He shot his bloomin' head off. Ah maiden, maiden, look at this How far the moral reaches! But like a dame who knew the game, She went on eatin' peaches. By A. Cynique. STATEMENT OF GOV. BICKETT "After giving the matter the most serious thought, there was no man in the state that we could so ill afT forded to have lost as Dr. Graham. There is no man in the state whose place it would be so hard to fill. ' The whole state feels that it has suffered an irreparable loss." Chapel Hill, N. C, Oct. 28, 1918.
