It's mighty easy to like the best
THATS why Camel is the most
popular cigarette ever made. In
all tobacco history there has never
been a - cigarette preference like
Camel's. ... Nothing is too good or
expensive that will make Camels
the world's finest smoke.
Camel is the friendliest cigarette
ever made. From early morning to
night's last reluctant parting you
just can't smoke enough Camels
to tire the taste. Camels are the
celebrated smoke that brought an
end forever to dgaretty after-taste.
If you've not yet learned how
really satisfying a cigarette can be,
just try Camels. Into this one cig
arette the world's largest tobacco
organization puts every good qual
ity that could be wished for in a
cigarette. All the mild and mellow
fragrance. The most perfect
blending. The utmost in smoking
enjoyment and contentment,
regardless of price.

L. N. Byrd Selects All-North

Team of 1926.
MUCH TALENT IS FOUND
By L. N. Byrd
The state high school title
clash on Emerson Field here
Saturday with Sanford and
Charlotte bearing the standards
of the east and west, dropped
thg curtain over another high
school football season in North
Carolina. Perhaps there have
been greater teams in the state
in other years, but the ' 1926
season has ben a success in every
way.
The end . of the season brings
that annual institution, the1 all
star elevens, and today's clash
opened the season for the All
North Carolina High School "se
lections. Naming eleven play
ers from the array of grid tal
ent in the state and : tagging
them "The Best" is a difficult
task; albeit a thankless one.
There will be protests, some of
them justified, perhaps, but in
presenting the 1926 selection I
have tried to do justice to" all.

BEAUFORT COUNTY MEN
TO ORGANIZE A CLUB
All Beaufort County boys
have been requested to meet for
a few minutes, Wednesday night
at 8:45 on the second. ;flqor! of
the Y. M. C. A. for the purpose
of organizing a Beaufort Coun
ty Club. -
A survey of the scholastic
standing of men in the various
student activities has been pre
pared jointly by the Faculty
Committee on Athletics and the
one on Musical and Dramatic
Activities. The statistics are
based on the academic records
of the individual students during
the quarter in which they ac
tually participated in the acti
vity concerned.
The academic average of the
entire student body was found
to be 3.40 or approximately a
C-, the athletic average, 3.666.
It was found that varsity base
ball, varsity track, members of
the Playmakers, and members
of the Glee Club were above the
average of the University. Var
sity track led with, 2.90. Var
sity and freshman basketball,
varsity football, and freshman
track were found to be below
the average but above a passing
mark. Freshman football and
baseball were both found to be
below a passing mark. - Fresh
man baseball was lowest with
4.55.
' The Committees which pre
pared these "statistics were very
pleasantly surprised with the
results, and they will be pres
ented for consideration before
the next meeting of the Univer
sity faculty. , .
The Woman's Association will
be at home to the members of
the faculty and their wfves at
the Woman's Building Friday,
December 10, from eight-thirty
to ten in the evening. All wom

the dormitory are especially
urged to be present. "
Library" Sets Record
Circulation Reaches New High-Water
Mark Need of New Library. ;
Just at this time . when the
University is having such a
struggle to get the necessary
funds for a new library, Mr.
Baker, of the library staff, an
nounces that the circulation for
the month of November reached
the high-water mark of 15,544.
This is the largest monthly cir
culation in the history of the
library and is a 21 percent gain
over the month of November of
1925. ' .
At the present rate of in
crease in-the circulation of the
library it can easily be seen that
the present building will be un
able to take care of the necessary
new volumes and staff. The li
brary has already been forced to
resort to the old Pharmacy
Building, Person Hall, for addi
tional stack room space. .

Carolina Wins Cross-Country
Meet of State"
(Continued from page one)
Carolina 19, Duke and State tied
for second place with 59 each.
The time of the triumverate that
tied for first place over the four
mile course was 21 minutes 6
seconds. . -
Two Carolina runners sang
their swan song of cross-country
as they jogged along Saturday.
The two were Captain Arthur
Daniels and "Knots" Goodwin.
Both have made brilliant records
during their four yearsof par
ticipation, but they have the
pleasure of knowing that their
departure witnessed the appear
ance of the Tar Heel's greatest
cross-country team.
The University freshmen add
ed another title for the day as
they captured the first year
championship meet by a margin
almost as large as that of heir
big Varsity brothers. The score
of the freshman meet was Caro
lina 26, Duke 41, State 60. '

An 'added attraction of the
day was a special cross-country
race between high school 'run

ville. Clarence Phoenix, Greens
boro high flash, led the pack of
runners home in the two mile
race by a safe margin. Greens
boro won the meet by the score
of 15 to 21.
The race was the first of its
kind ever staged between high
school runners in North Caro
lina. The meet was supposed to
be for the high school cross
country championship, and so
it was, because Greensboro and
Fayetteville were the only teams
in the state to assemble cross
country teams.
Each team entered four men
and they finished as follows:
Phoenix (G), Quate (G), Davie
(F), Benas (F), Dyrick (G),
