The two old est of these are the Assembly of the Philanthropic Society, and the Senate of the Dialectic Society, usually known just as the Di and the Phi. The neetings of these societies are- leld in their own meeting halls vith that of the Phi being located )n the top floor of New East and ;he Di on the corresponding lo cation in New West. The meet- ngs are conducted in formal ashion in strict accordance with parliamentary law. The discussions of the CPU are. on the other hand, conducted in a elatively informal atmosphere of i roundtable discussion where nembers and guests enter on an qual footing. Representatives of these three groups, together with a retiresen :ative of the Student Legislature md a presidential appointee com oose the Carolina Forum, the branch of the Student Govern ment which is charged with pro- :unng and presenting prominen persons to address the studen body.
