New Lighting
For Art Work
A new method of lighting is
now in use in the memorial ro
tunda of the Morehead building
where the Genevieve Morehead
art collection is exhibited.'
Specially designed projectors
which reveal striking color and
workmanship imperceptible un
der normal lighting have -been in
troduced. The projectors consist
of an intricate lens system and
diaphragm which illuminates
only the canvas of each portrait.
The design of the rotunda affords
semi -concealment of each projec
tor to avoid distraction.
The art exhibit is open to the
public Monday through Friday
from 2 until 10 p.m., on Satur
days from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m.,
and on Sunday from 1 until 10

the pending acceptance of the
proposals by the N. C. College
board.
The motion by Trustee Clark
to abolish the doctorate courses
offered by the Spanish depart
ment was defeated after Gray
pointed out that Clark actually
propose the ruin of the univer
sity.
"If every time a Negro comes
along and applies for admission
to the graduate school and you
say you're going to abolish the
graduate school, what kind of a
university are you going to
have," the president asked.
You're beginning to carve at the
very vitals of the University if
you pass Mr. Clark's motion,"
Gray stated. He was applauded
and the motion was overwhelm
ingly killed.
