Mr. Strong said 4,271 students have preregistered for the first session of summer, school. "There may be 1,500 to 2,000 more people, but we'll have no way of knowing this early." The number of students attending the first session of summer school in 1973 was 6,394 and 5,411 attended the second session. The first session is starting a week earlier than last year. Classes are to begin 8 a.m. today. "The schedule change should have some effect on enrollment," Strong said, "but a final figure won't be available for about three weeks.
