Ingram suceeds Dr. John Dennison, chairman since 1969. A 1941 UNC graduate, Ingram joined the faculty here in 1947. He served as geology department chairman previously, between 1957 and 1964. He is also a member of the UNC Marine Sciences Curriculum faculty. Ingram's teaching and research fields are sedimentation, clay mineralogy, marine geology and geology of the Atlantic Coast Plain. His research articles have been published in many professional journals. He is a fellow of the Geological Society of America (GSA) and a former GSA chairman, southeastern section. Dr. Donald Tarbet, assistant director of Records and registration said exact enrollment would not be known for several days. Enrollment for the first session totaled 6,217. Twenty-one point five per cent of those enrolled are out-of-state residents. The courses will be offered in seven professional programs and 29 dpeartments in the Arts and Sciences-General College program. The second summer session is well staffed. Connie Nelson, assistant director of housing contracts, said most summer housing arrangements have been made for the second summer session. There are no men's single rooms available in the dorms. Single and doubel rooms are still available for women students.
