The Dukesters upset the Tar Heel squad in the first meet by a 19-11 count and will test. Coach Chuck Quinlan is confident, however, that his once beaten team will come back from Durham with win number four under their belts. Art Bluethenthal, who was ab sent for .the Virginia meet, will be back in the line-up, but will probably wrestle 175 instead of filling his usual 165 slot, and Al Crawford, former AAU champ, will be seeking his fifth pin in as many starts in the heavy weight position. Dick Seaver, who was slated to wrestle 155, may be absent from the line-up due to a leg in jury sustained in a short bout with a Ford coupe over the week end. Should he wrestle, Archie Thompson, who wrestled a beau tiful match at Virginia, will fill the 165 pound slot, although at present it is expected that Archie will be moved down to 155 and Bill Crutchfield moved in at 165. In the lower weights, Irwin Smallwood, at 121, is slated to tangle with Miller in what is ex pected to be one of the closest bouts of the evening, and Walt Johnston will fill the 128 pound post. Unbeaten Tommy Hearn, in the 136 pound class, will be seeking his fifth straight win, and Demont Rosemann will bat tle it out with Leitzinger of Duke in another feature bout. Following the meet tonight, Coach Quinlan will have three more days of hard -work before embarking on Friday night for Atlanta, where the team will wind up its season in a Saturday night engagement with Georgia Tech. Steele, Phi Gams Lose Cage Games Two major upsets featured competition in yesterday's intra mural tangles as Kappa Alpha trounced the Phi Gams, 26-21, and BVP hung a 38-36 defeat on Steele's dorm league quint. Previously both the Phi Gams and Steele were undefeated. Their losses left one and three undefeated squads in the dorm and frat circuits respectively. r In other encounters Phi Delt No. 2 came through with a last minute splurge to dump Chi Psi, 15-14. ATO edged past ZBT in another highly-contested fray, 31-30. Sigma Chi topped Sigma Nu, 22-15, and TEP forfeited to DKE in other tilts. Nichels led the State scorers with 13 points. The Phantoms jumped out in to an early 6-0 lead on three quick field goals but after eight minutes of play the Terrors had rallied to tie the score at 10-alI. After the score had reached 14 14, the Terrors gained a short lived advantage of 20-16 but af ter 17 minutes the Tar Heels had tied it up again 22-22. The Phantoms had a 28-24 lead at halftime. At the start of the closing half, the Tar Heels increased their lead to 34-24 and after nine minutes held a commanding 41 31 lead. The Terrors led by Nichels and Boger rallied back gamely but the Phantoms put on a spurt in the closing minutes and won going away. Bones . McKinney played an outstanding floor game in addi tion to dropping in seven field goals and he and Bob Paxton had control of the backboards throughout the second half. Jim Jordan was missing his usual sharpshooting eye and was held scoreless. The closely guarding State quint kept three men on Dillon but he still managed to get away for 18 points. During the open ing half, State's shots were hit ting the mark with unusual ac curacy and that, combined with their control of the backboards and close guarding kept the Tar Heel offensive in check. The triumph brought the White Phantoms on even terms in the conference standings and gives them a season s record of 23 wins against only two losses. The Phantoms face a high-scor ing VPI quint at Chapel Hill Wednesday night in preparation for their all-important encounter with Duke Saturday night.
