Snavely change his strategy for Heels. Their names are Charlie Jus tice and Billy Britt. As running backs for Asheville High they were something more than sen sational. As Davids among Go liaths for two of the most pow erful of the nation's service teams Bainbridge Naval and Maxwell Field, respectively, they each performed with ability amazing for mere prep gradu ates. Now, prematurely seasoned and with eight years of college eligibility between them, the Asheville atoms already are working into the grid swing of things here and gladdening on lookers' hearts in the process. Now Coach Snavely is one of the nation's foremost exponents of that standard attack, the sin gle wing. With that formation he has amassed a long and suc cessful record. Pole Vault May Produce Track Meet's Best Show Always one of the prettiest the Southern Invitation Indoor a good chance of producing the highest, fanciest, and most spec tacular vaulting the South has ever seen. There have been only a hand ful of 13-foot vaulters in all the history of Southern track, but Sgt. John Montgomery from Cherry Point set the record up to 13 feet 5 inches here last year, and the soaring sergeant heads the big field "of stars com ing back for the annual classic Saturday. . Jumpin' John did not have any competition after he passed 12 feet last year, but it will be dif ferent this time. His rivals will include Norman McLeod, North Carolina "GI" and former Con ference champ, who also was in the 13-foot class before enter ing the service. McLeod has just been hitting around 12 feet in practice this winter, but as the former South ern champion says, "it's hard to hit that 'magic 13' without some 13-foot competition to spur you on. Montgomery, of course, should be even better than last year, and if McLeod can get back to his former peak, the resulting duel -should be one of the pret tiest of the whole meet, and it may well produce the .highest vault that Dixie fans have ever been privileged to see.
