Nurses Evacuate
Tanner House; Move
To Infirmary Quarters
Infirmary nurses who formerly
lived in the small house behind
Swain Hall have moved to their
new quarters in the infirmary on
Pittsboro Road and the house is
being turned back to its owner,
Kenneth Tanner of Spindale.
Tanner built the house about
10 years ago as an educational
experiment, renting it to five stu
dents each year a freshman, a
sophomore, a junior, a senior and
a graduate student. Purpose of
this was to ascertain the advan
tages of students of all ages liv
ing together.
The war broke up the project,
and Tanner turned the house
nvpr to the University; which
then used it as headquarters of
the C.V.T.C. program. When
this was disbanded, the infirmary
nurses took over the house.

one run with the assistance of a
wild throw to third by Cleet

home a second tally.
Thereafter, however, White
heart's work was masterful.
Jerry Frye golfed a long triple
with one out in the second in
ning and that terminated the
visitors' hitting. Pacing himself
well, the veteran Tar Heel hurler
was never in difficulty.
Gregory Stars Afield
Griff eth pitched well, but he
wasn't able to match the effec
tiveness of Whiteheart yester
day. Cleetwood and Hayworth
paced the Carolina hitters with
two timely singles apiece. The
defensive play of both teams was
spotty, but Gregory played a
great game afield for the victors,
making several fine pickups of
bad throws.
