Tie For First
A win by Carolina today will
put the Tar Heels in a tie for first
place with State in the Southern
conference. The Wolfpack ran
their Conference record up to
five wins as against one loss by
beating Davidson Monday. Caro
lina now has a four and one rec
ord. In Big Four play, the Tar
Heels have one win and one loss,
which puts them in back of the
league-leading State and Duke
nines, each of which boasts a 3-1
mark. The closeness of the race,
however, is indicated by the fact
that Duke beat State, State trip
ped Carolina, and Carolina
trimmed Duke.
The Tar Heels will play Vir
ginia here Friday and go to Dur
ham Saturday for their second
encounter with Jack Coombs
Blue Devils.
