Whiteheart bore down to get Stanton and Kohler on third strikes, but Ram sey socked a safety over second to bat in the second run. State scored again in the third with two out. For the second straight day Memphis Ed Bailey ran off with low-scoring honors, negotiating the 18 holes in a two-over-par 74. Once again he was long and straight down the fairways with his tee shots, but his irons couldn't keep the pace. The Wildcats were saved from complete whitewash when their No. 1 star, Bill Bryant, halved the first nine with Gray- don Liles, the Tar Heel ace, to tally a half point. The remainder of Coach Erickson's boys had things pretty much their own way as they breezed in with good scores.
