Grumman Attending War-Navy Conference Russell M. Grumman, director of the University Extension, left this morning for Madison, Wis., where he will attend the quarterly meeting of the War-Navy Committee of the U. S. Armed Forces Institute of Fri day and Saturday. He will return to Chapel Hill Sunday. Grumman was appointed to the committee in July of this year for a three-year term. Residents Contribute $7,896 for Relief Residents of Chapel Hill have con tributed or pledged a total of $7,896 toward the relief of the destitute throughout the world as a result of a campaign conducted by the Chapel Hill churches' Committee for World Relief. Of this figure, $6,651 has been pledged in monthly installments to run through October 1947. These figures are as yet incomplete, and all representatives of the com mittee who have not turned in their reports are urged to contact Sheldon White at the Bank of Chapel Hill as soon as possible.
