'If this does no good, they say, then they may stage a mass de monstration. The students object to the gov ernors' plan to maintain the tra dition of racial segregation at Southern colleges by setting up a system of jointly-financed re gional professional schools for white and Negroes. In a letter to all students and organizations, the small band of Protestants have labeled the plan "ignorant and prejudiced." They add, "We resent Gainsville being made the sounding board for the vile language of demagogues." The protest, which exploded at a rally last week, is being led by Gerald Gordon. At the meeting, some 31 students alligned them selves with the dissenting group. They pro pose a plan which is uneconomi cal and refuse to face the fact that Supreme court rulings re quire equal educational facilities 'within' the state." President Miller served an ulti matum to the students that he will consider any protest an ex treme act of disloyalty to the university, and Governor Millard Caldwell, conference chairman, said that Students "misunder stand" the meeting's purpose The students apparently are ignoring their officials. Haw and Pell matched each other stroke for stroke through the very rough waters of the short Emory pool but Haw managed to just nose out Pell in a photo phinish. Jim Thomas and the quartet of freestyle speed demons Steve Osborne, Norm Sper, Mike Mor row, and Pritchard hung up the new pool records. Press in Jim Chaney's article in the News and Observer, I am sorry that I missed the activity. I be lieve it would have furnished me with enough evidence to put the final clinch and give me further reason to believe that Wallace is not sincere, because certainly thejin iran as a symbol of man's methods Chaney relates are far from sincere ones. Chaney, in his detailed report of the Rally, says that the mem bers were told that now they are salesmen and they must con- tact radio stations and continue to write letters to publications and ask why Wallace is not get- ting the publicity he deserves, j cording to Tangrall, who is a Chaney quotes one of the "teach- j veteran of World War II, the ers" as saying, "There are many jBaha'i faith recognizes the teach times when you will not reveal ings of Christ, Moses, Mohammed your real objective. As students) and other founders of the world's you will have many opportuni ties to campaign by talking to the right people." Henry Wallace may be sincere, but his promoters are far from it in their methods. Working un der false pretenses is not what I call sincerity. But of course, as was brought out time and time again in the initial meeting, the press is not always giving a true picture.
