Special to The Dnilv Tar Hm1 RALEIGH, May 20 The Duke freshTnen baseball team won the season's series from the Tar Baby j nine in Durham yesterday by breaking a 2-2 tie in the ninth inning three games to two and left the Tar Babies with a nine all record with one game left. A triple by Dick Weber to lead off the last of the ninth put Chal mers Port, Tar Baby pitcher, in the whole, and then Jack Johnson singled in the winning run. Duke grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the first inning and then in- i creased it to 2-0 in the fifth. The Tar Babies tied the ball game in the seventh to set the stage for the exciting finish.. Wayne Harpold reached first on the thirdbaseman's error, stole second, and went to third on Bill Lore's single. Lacrossemen End Season With V PI Win By Walt M. Dear II Carolina's lacrosse team breezed to an easy victory yes terday morning by downing VPI's Gobblers, 11-2 on Navy Field. ltwas the stickmen's last game of the year and their fourth win as against six-losses. The Tar Heels got off to a good start, scoring three goals in less than three minutes of the first quarter. Hal Taylor, Grant Lynch, and Art Greenbaum tal lied for Carolina, and Johnny Murchison scored a few minutes later to give Carolina a 4-0 lead. In the second quarter George Levine and Kirk Manning scored and the Tar Heels were in com plete command for the rest of the game. The Gobbler's lone score in the first half came in the last 15 seconds when Luke Comegyes fired it into the cage High scorer for Carolina was Grant Lynch who played crease man instead of in his usual de fense position.
