THURSDAY, MARCH 1, 1951 1 ' ' ' : ' 1 . i ". - ; . NROTC Major Promoted Major B. W. McLean, Marine Corps, has been promoted to the ran,k.of lieutenant colonel, Capt. J. E. Cooper, professor of naval science announced yesterday. Colonel McLean is the Marine officer-instructor at the NROTC unit where he has been stationed since September, 1948. His pro motion is effective as of Jan. 1. Colonel McLean reported here from a two-year tour of duty with the First Marine Division in China, after graduation from the Amphibious Warfare School at Quantico, Va. He first entered the Marine Corps in December 1940, receiving his commission as a second lieutenant in June 1941. JAPANESE1 PROFESSOR Sigeiti Moriguti, assistant pro fessor of applied mathematics in the University of Tokyo, is spend ing the academic year 1950-51 in research and study of mathemat ical statistics in the University under the sponsorship of the U. S. Army. He is the author of num erous research articles and a book on the theory of statistics. SCHWENNING GIVEN POST The Academy of Management, national honorary society which recognizes persons who have made a substantial contribution to the field of management, has announced the appointment of Dr. G. T. Schwenning of the School of Business Administration as chairman of the finance com mittee. The appointment is for the year 1951, during which time Dr. Schwenning will also serve as a member of the Academy's ex ecutive committee.
