Dr. L. Li. Vine, chairman of the project for the sponsoring group, predicted a field' of 250 dogs would be entered in ;the show which is planned to he consid crably expanded over similar ex hibitions of the two previous years. At le ast 75 prizes, trophies, and ribbon:., will be awarded in the competition. - A special junior showmanship class will be opened for children's hand of dogs, which in these en tries' need not necessarily be purebreds. ' . - Entry blanks are immediately 'Pines' Has . New Owner The Pines restaurant on Ra leigh Road has a new owner, it was announced yestertlay. He is Charles Frye of Durham, who also owns the Waffle Shop in Durham. Frye has 15 years experience in the restaurant chain in Kansas City, Miss. He is a native of Durham. Frye said he intends to main tain the quality of food and ser vice The Pines has been noted for previously. In addition, he an nounced that private rooms will now be available for parties. The staff of the restaurant will consist of three waitresses and ore relief waitress, Frye said. Four Profs Attend Meet Four University history pro fessors attended the Mississippi Valley Historical Association in Cincinnati recently. The professors are Hugh T. Lefler, Frank W. Klingberg, Rich ard K. Murdockj and Fletcher M. Green. Green served as a member of the Nominating Committee and as chairman of a session devoted to the Woodrow Wilson Era. The course, which was spon sored by the Carolina Press Photography Association, fea tured 15 nationally known specia lists in the various photography fields. Awards were presented by President Gordon Gray and Governor Kerr Scott for those pictures judged best by Joseph Costa, chairman of the board of the National Press Association. Winners in the category of spot news were: John C. Wyatt, Lex ington,. Ky., first; Sebastian Som mer, Raleigh second; and Ed Mc Cauley, Burlington, third. In the feature section, Max Thorpe, vStatesville, won first prize and Bill Ray, Winston-Salem, one second and third. Max Thorpe, Statesville, re ceived first place in scenic divis ion; Hugh '. Morton, Wilmington, and .
