The Bulldogs took to the air an. even dozen times in the final tvo stanzas and made eight of them good for 165 yards and three teedees. - The other six-pointer came" on a pass from Billy Williams of Caror lina to Fred Bilyeu, fleet-footed Georgia halfback who hauled in Williams' weak, wobbly pass intended for Benny Waiser on his own 20 and legged it 80 yards to touchdownland. The Line Was Fine CAROLINA'S OCK-RIBBED DEFENSIVE line was the most im pressive feature of the game. The Tar Heel defenders, led by Cap tain Joe Dudeck, held the fleet-footed Georgians to 69 yards over land. Added to last week's 29 yards picked up by N. C. State, that gives the Carolina defensive unit an impressive average of only 49 yards yielded per game. After the Bulldogs had failed to dent the big Blue line, they went overhead with the good right arm of Zeke Bratkowski, sophomore sensation from Danville, 111., leading the way. Bratkowski had the services of two fine ends Art DeC-Ho and Harry Babcock. Babcock raised most of the 80,000 eyebrows in the stadium with two fine catches. The first was a diving over-the-shoulder catch of a 50-yard pass from Bratkowski. Babcock was chaperoned deep into Tar Heel territory by Dick Lackey and Bud Wallace but when the pass came, m ki :n ."s Babcock outreached the two Tar Heels to make the cat .h. Lr.l: the game, he made a one-handed snag of a fast-moving bc aerial while a Tar Heel defender pulled him to the groyne. Carolina showed 'one fine" spurt in the final quarLer wiuu IV; Wissman made good on" four straight passes bixore beln r... from the "game because of an injury. Billy Williams rcp-sctd v. man and completed two in a row to glue-f insured Jex Iiv. before lobbing one into the waiting arms of Eilyeu who toci it ?n own 20 and was touchdown-bound. Carolina's final tally came on a 17-yard, pass from Win i Bob (Goo Goo) Gantt. Gantt, the stubby Tar Heel wini-bac!:, : a fine running catch of the ball and scootsd into the end zen; one minute and. six seconds lelt in the game. Outstanding for Carolina were Wissman, L Newton, Taclde Tc;n : gins and Fullback Dick Wiess on offense. Joe Dudeik, Juli; n I GeorgeGeorge Norris; Lou Darnell, Bill Kuhnt Dave ViI:.y, C-i Maultsby and Bud Carson all played sterling games on desire. The old Carolina spirit was right there throughout. the ra Ev -n when the cause was hopeless, the Tar Heels were' whooping it ip f.c-r their team. "And after the game, a faithful few milled around the f ieldhouse, cheering the dejected Tar Heels. If we can keep that spirit and the team picks up the sterm a? everyone is expecting, we can't lose 'em all. After all, we csn't bzat Georgia's Butts every year.
