Tennessee in the Sugar Bowl on
New Tears.
4. One of the biggest fiascos,
if not the biggest ever to hit
sUident government was the
Eowers-White-TTeill case. It was
indirectly tied in with the segre
gation incident.
O. Mac White, former news
editor of The Daily Tar Heel, and
Kolfe Neill, former managing
editor of The Daily Tar Heel and
president of the North Carolina
Collegiate Press Association were
hfailed before the Men's. JTonor
Council by Student Body-Pres-klent
Henry Bowers charged with
lying. Likewise, the Council ac
cused Bowers.
All three cases were dismissed
for lack of evidence. Then Bowers
fTcur;ed the pair with "character
assassination", and were found
guilty by the Council in that they
had msde "unprovable assertions."
The pair appealed to the Stu
dent Council but were denied
appeal.
5. The InterFraternity Council
last month decided to obey the
law and break age old "tradi
tion" ntxl "customs" by banning
hazing which the council defined
as anything utilizing a (public
display, physical abuse, and
-scholastic interference.
