Francis J. LeClair, who came to
Chapel Hill after retirement as a
horticulturalist and has worked as
a landscape artist for the Univer
sity. LeClair continues as a land
scaping consultant.
The main idea behind the ever
green planting, including holly, is
to keep the campus fresh and at

barriers, screens and hedges.

Kappa Sig Pledges Beat Actives
Sunday afternoon history was made in Kenan Stadium. or tfce
first time in the history of the chapter, the Kappa Sig pledges beat
the actives in the annual pledge-active tag football game. As a
penalty for losing, the actives treated the pledges to a party at
the House Sunday night.
Lewis Dorm Party
Last night the boys in Lewis Dorm began the Christmas holi
days by celebrating the season at the dorm's annual party. Festiv
ities began with a supper at 5:30 p.m. in Lenior Hall. Later the
group sponsored a caroling tour which spread the Christmas spirit
throughout the campus and residential areas. The evening was
topped off with a "closed" party in the home of Frank Carlisle
on Pittsboro Road.
Alpha Gam News
On Monday the Alpha Gams held their annual Christmas
banquet. Goat songs and skits given by the pledges livened the
evening's entertainment. Later, gifts were exchanged.
The Alpha Gam pledges carried out the Christmas theme on
Dec. 12 when they entertained other local sorority pledge classes
at an open house.
Earlier in the season the Alpha Gams joined the SPEs in
adopting two needy families and giving them a party, complete
with Santa Clus and gifts.
