But we think it makes a difference which brand of beer we're talking about. We think Budweiser is an exception to this "you've gotta get used to it" rule. It's so smooth. (You see, no other beer is Beechwood Aged; it's a costly way to brew beer, and it takes ntore time. But it works.) So whether you're one of the few who has never tried beer, or a beer drinker who suddenly feels the urge to find out why so many people enjoy Budweiser, we think you'll like it. A win tonight by the Heels would give them the cham pionship and send them into the tournament next wreek at Greensboro seated number one, regardless of how they do Saturday against Duke. The Tar Heels will be going up against one of the tough est defenses in the conference tonight. The Gamecocks have, only been giving up an av age of 65.8 pts. per game while scoring at a pace of 75.2 pts. per game. Their tremendous defense can mainly be attributed to tremendous power on the ? backboards. Gary Greger, 6'9", forward leads the way with an average of 14.1 re bounds per game. In 19 games, Greger grabed 268 rebounds and set a school record against Elon when he grabbed 35 rebounds. Greger is also the second leading scorer on the team with an average of 14.1 pts. per game. The only personal problem the Gamecocks have present ly is Frank Standard. Stand ard suffered an ankle injury against N. C. State in the North - South Doubleheader and hasn't played since then. The 6'4" Standard was aver aging 111 rebounds per game and scoring at a 131 pace. It is doubtful that Standard will start tonight, but he is ex pected to see action The Heels also have to watch for Jack Thompson. While Thompson is only scor ing 11.9 pts. per game, he is a deadly .passer and has been credited with 117 assist through 19 games. Thompson has gotten 13 assist in a sin pected to see action. like beer you tasted it? people say no. They i r a i j olives, or scotch, or V A. ... This will be the second meeting between these teams this season. The Tar Heels won the first one 80-55 in the opening game of the North South Doubleheader. The game was billed as a close game with the HeeLs favored by a few. points, but they used some deadly shooting and a tough defense to eas ily handle the Gamecocks then. "We've got just one objec tive to accomplish this week," said Coach Frank McGuire yesterday. "It is to get Stand ard back into playing form and ready for the tournament next week." The Gamecocks presently have a 13-6 season record and are 6-4 in the conference. They are now assured of fin ishing in fourth place in the standings and will most like ly face Maryland in their first game of the tournament next week.
