Pago 4 THE DAILY TARHEEL. Saturday, February 24, 1963 'Find .Baba God In .Bel never Says By SALLY JONES of The Daily Tor Heel Staff Man cannot find God except within himself, Henry Kashou ty, a follower of Meher Baba, told an audience of about 60 in Gerrard Hall Thursday night. "What yoi are seeking you already have within yourself," said the lawyer and former judge from Hampton, Va., who has been following Baba for 12 years. Meher Baba, who calls himself the Ancient One, the Divine Master, the Avatar, has declared, "I am God in human form." Kashousty stated, "It is hard to grasp the concept that God takes the form of man. It Is always vital that God manifests in man." One thing he is convinced of is the need to "focus our minds in God in human form," he said. According to Kashouty, Baba is the first incarnation of God who will be recognized as God before he leaves his human body. In this incarnation he has come "not to teach but to awaken. He attracts you, but then you have to discover reality within yourself,'' Kashouty feels. "You are the only one who can get rid of the bondage that separates you from the true state o f awareness of consciousness." Religion or philosophy should only serve to help you search for reality and freedom within yourself, he said. "You must look for freedom in a new posture, a new ex pression. You could be in prison for life and still find this freedom. No condition can stand between you and your own personal realization." Kashouty urged the audience to "find out for yourself if Meher Baba is what he says he is." He stated he found no dif ficulty in accepting Baba as God in human form. Baba is presently i n seclusion in Puna, India, and observed the Silence and has communicated only through an alphabet board. When he speaks it will be ','the perfect Word of Creation." "I had to come, and I have come. I am the Ancient One," Baba has said. According to Kashouty, Baba has come before in such human forms as" Christ, Mohammed, Buddha, and Krishna. When Baba manifests "each person will experience an awakening," Kashouty said. He stated that Baba comes for a select few, but that the "whole universe has the awaken ing." . ' God has come to renew the spiritual impulse, he asserted. "The only path to God is love and to this man must awaken." . The only reason God comes as a man is that it is the most direct route to total realiza tion, he stated. "Baba's dictates explain much of creation," Kashouty said. "We can be eminently satisfied that Baba has an answer for everything." Our NOTICE in the Tar Heel has nothing wh-itsoever to do with Carolina's infamous honor code. Due to Dean Can sler's announcement and letter we feel a clarification is in order; We are not even intimating that, to neglect to send us $1. if you received a BUYER'S GUIDE, is violation of the honor code. Nor do we intend to imply to take any Honor Council action if you do not send the well spent dollar. Distribution Has Been On The Honor System. What we are ap pealing to is your basic, individual, personal code of honor (nothing whatsoever to do with U.N.C.). We feel that we have distributed to you something of value, and something that, if used, will save you money. THE BUYER'S GUIDE was produced with the "exploited" student in mind. It was designed to save its user money. THE GUIDE sold locally for $2. Frankly, our original distribution plans were inadequate. We are now distributing GUIDES on the premise that people are basically honest So . . . if you feel that, by using THE BUYER'S GUIDE you will save money, (which you will) then send $1. to; COLLEGE MARKET ADVERTISING 504 W.
