Hollywood's annual party for itself,
the Academy Award presentations, will
be carried tonight live beginning at 1 0 on
Channel 11.
After giving the best picture jward to
'Midnight Cowboy" last year, the
Academy judges seemed to return to
more typical Hollywood styles in judging
excellence this season, nominating such
conventional offerings as "Love Story,"
"Airport" and 'Patton." The only
innovative films nominated for the best
picture award were "Five Easy Pieces"
and "MASH."
Along with the customary award
presentations, the ceremonies will include
a tribute to the Beatles (with Harry
Belafonte handling the music) and film
clips from the movies of honorary Oscar
winners Ingmar Bergman, Lillian Gish,
and Orson Welles.
