Letters to Arnold's death no one's fault I , the eu.tor: f he death of any human beir.g, as has r v'.-n .aid many times, is indeed a tragedy. "I he death of billy Arnold is no exception. Death is also a very touchy 'aKject to comment on. The death of Billy Arnold has no doubt affected Billy Arnold's relatives, his coach, his teammates and his fellow students. Mr. Humberger's accusations concerning Billy Arnold's death has placed unnecessary pressure on the people that were so deeply touched by the loss of Billy Arnold. I did not know Billy Arnold, but having read the Daily Tar Heel's articles concerning him before his death, it seems to me Billy Arnold had one desire. That desire was to play football at Carolina and to play it well. That desire, I feel, was the main cause of his death. Maybe there r. too much emphasis placed on sports in high school, college and in professionals. I hat statement is irrelevant in this i-ditorijl. I he blame cannot be placed on any one person. If Mr. Humberger accuses any one. he is playing the role of God. Mr. Dooley has been coaching at UNC for several years and this was the first occurence of this type. T-- -I'NC-CU Group member defends column To the editor : Since Gerry Cohen U.ok the Joe H::i column so personally, it i only tai: t inform him that Joe Hill i a group, and that I wrote last Fridav 's column. Gerry says that socialism for him does not mean revolution in the streets, long hair, and ranting about Mo. He imp!:e that this is Joe Hill's conception of socialism, and in the same breath vi that leftists shouldn't attack each other. My column criticized social democrats for things which were on the public record. Has Gerry read Joe Hill's criticism of the People's Peach Treaty and Mayday0 If he had read our column in the September 16 DTH, he might see that we propose to join, as workers, with workers to tight things like the New Economic Policy, and that we oppose the elitist, mindless violence of anarchists.
