Meeting for the final time during the 56th session, the council also narrowly approved creating a SI 0.000 emergency loan fund for the Daily Jar Heel. Most of the objections to the Veterans' Club document centered on its membership clause, which many representatives felt was too restrictive. Any UNC student who is either a veteran or on active duty in the U . S . Armed Forces is automatically eligible for membership. Any other student may become an honorary member is he or she receives a recommendation from any club member and is approved by a two-thirds majority of the membership. UJA raising funds The UNC chapter of the United Jewish Appeal (UJA) is continuing its fund-raising campaign to support Jewish social services in the United States and abroad. The campaign, which involves distribution of UJA literature and solicitation of donations by telephone, has not been set, Mark Silver, coordinator of the drive, said. The money will be used for vitally needed social and humanitarian services: however, no money will be used for military expenses in Israel, Silver said.
