Five Tar Heels
picked in ACC poll
Five North Carolina football players have
been chosen to the Atlantic Coast
Conference preseason football team.
UNC defensive tackle Dee Hardison was a
unanimous pick along with Wake center
Larry Tearry and Duke linebacker Carl
McGee.
Guard Mike Salzano, place kicker Tom
Biddle, defensive end Ken Sheets and
defensive back Alan Caldwell were chosen to
the team from Carolina.
The rest of the team includes offensive
ends Steve Young of Wake and Tom Hall of
Duke; tackles Jackie Robinson of Wake
Lacy Brumley of Clemson and Larry
Stewart of Maryland; guard Joe Bostic of
Clemson; quarterback Mike Dunn of Duke;
and running backs Ted Brown ofN.C. State
James McDougald of Wake and Steve
Atkins of Maryland.
The defensive team includes linemen Ernie
Salley and Larry Seder of Maryland;
linebackers Brad Carr of Maryland and Don
Cervi of Wake; defensive backs Jonathan
Claiborne of Maryland, Ralph Stringer of
N.C. State and Tony Blount of Virginia; and
punter Russ Henderson of Virginia.
The team was chosen by area sports
writers after a tour of the seven conference
schools.
Meeting scheduled
A meeting for persons interested in selling
programs at varsity football games will be
held tonight at 7:30 in 303 Woollen Gym.
