The Sword of Peace Outdoor Repertory Company is offering this special discount price to UNC students with ID for the last performance in their 1978 summer season of Shakespeare's As You Like It. Three members of the master of fine arts program of the Carolina department of dramatic art have spent the summer performing at the historic town. One of the students, Anne Liske, said the cast offers "good productions that could easily draw a larger student audience." She said the play not only gave performers valuable training but was a "stimulating experience" for audiences as well. The players claim their classic love comedy of Rosalind and Orlando, Celia and Oliver, will "conquer all souls with laughing delight." But the company said one of its worst problems in the past has been "convincing people we're in their own backyards." To get to the Snow Camp theater, take Jones Ferry Road out of town one mile. After crossing Highway 54 turn at the sign pointing right to Greensboro. Drive 20.9 miles to Allen's store on the left and travel eight-tenths of a mile to the first right. " Once in Snow Camp, you can observe local craftsmen at work and view their finished products on display in the Craft Gallery. Also, the Snow Camp Community Museum helps visitors relive a little of the Revolutionary War period which made the town famous, the community takes pride that the village is not much larger today than it was when Cornwallis camped his army there after the Battle of Guilford Courthouse. The company's regularfeature, The Sword of Peace, was written by UNC faculty member and former Playmaker William Hardy and is set during the Revolutionary, period. The drama portrays the conflict between patriots, Tories and the Quaker population of the area who refused to fight on the basis of religious conviction. A final performance of The Sword of Peace will close the summer season Saturday night.
