Today's Activities Interested in working on the Summer Tar Heel? A meeting of all persons interested in working on the Summer Tar Heel staff will be at 4 p.m. in the Tar Heel office at the Carolina Union. Saturday The Rob Cassels Band will perform in the Pit from 2-5 p.m.. sponsored by the Full Gospel Student Fellowship. Monday Memorial Day NO C LASSES! Tuesday Speech Anxiety, a University Counseling Center Summer Group Program, will be held from 3-5 p.m. at the counseling center in Nash Hall. The UNC Outing Club will meet at 7 p.m. in the Carolina Union. Wednesday C.H.A.N.G.E., the Chapel Hill Anti-Nuclear Group Effort, will meet at 7:30 p.m. at the Wesley Foundation. Items of Interest - Fundamentals in Astrology, a Morehcad Planetarium course for anyone interested in the basics of our oldest science, will be taught evenings during the summer. Call 933-1236 for more information. The UNC Outing C lub will meet every Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. in the Carolina Union throughout the summer. All interested persons are invited. WXYC is looking for people interested in working in public affairs and promotions. Come by the WXYC station in the Carolina Union basement and sign up. The University Counseling Center is offering four summer group programs: Speech Anxiety. Personal Growth, Centering Venturing, and What Do 1 Want to Do? Further information on course content and enrollment is available at the Carolina Union desk, or at 933-2175. . Two free, non-credit, short courses in the use of two popular statistical packages (S AS and SPSS) will be offered in June by the Instructional Computing and Statistics Program. The Statistical Analysis System (SAS) short course will be offered June 4-5 from 1-3 p.m. in 307 Manning Hall. The Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) course will be offered June 6-7 from 1-3 p.m. at the same location. Call 966-4214 for more information. Efl32S3EIES Hunt declares Dance Week By KIMBERLY McGUIRE In an effort to encourage a struggling dance program in North Carolina Gov. James B. Hunt Jr. has declared this week "Dance Week" across the state. Jon Gossett of the N.C. Arts Council in Raleigh said, "National Dance Week was actually in April, but we didn't have enough activities scheduled to really celebrate it, so we asked the governor to declare it here in May." Gossett is organizer of a Dan-e Showcase to be performed tonight at N.C. State in Raleigh to highlight this weeks festivities. Dance Week was ushered in last weekend with performances by the New Performing Dance Company in Durham. In Charlotte, the New Reflections Dance Theater will put on productions through Sunday in honor of the proclamation. "I hope that next year we can plan for a Dance Week in conjunction with the national celebration," Gossett said. "We hope to have activities all week long, including a street festival on the mall in front cf the capitol in Raleigh."" Gosuett encouraged attendance at the Dance Showcase at 7:30 tonight at Stewart Theater to show support for the arts, effort.
