Sexy items stimulate trade
of Chapel Hill jewelry store

ill the add-a-boob necklace be the
next campus fashion?
Sex has found its way to the jewelry
counter at Foree-Johnson Metalsmiths at
106 Henderson St., where you can
purchase your very own life-sized,
sterling and copper Deep Throat Whistle
for $250.
Remember the mood ring? You know,
the one that turned blue when you were
in a sexy mood. Well, perhaps it was a bit
too subtle for you. Girls, now you can
show just how sexy you really are with a
silver and ruby "Titty Ring" for $35.
Guys, you haven't been forgotten. For
$125, you too can flaunt your masculinity
with the daring "Mr. Macho" ring. This 14
karat gold and sterling ring with a
carefully designed inch-long penis which
extends from it can adorn your hand.
The shop's erotic jewelry display was
designed as a promotional gimmick to
draw people into the shop, said co-owner
Don Foree.
"In general, people come by because
they're interested in that sort of thing
(erotic jewelry)," said Foree. "What's
more fun than sex?"
Indeed, most of the jewelry is not your
everyday onyx ring or Timex watch. The
pieces were designed by artisans all over
the country and are like museum displays.
Because of their uniqueness, Foree hopes
that persons who purchase the jewelry
will leave it on display until Feb. 29.
Foree hopes to make the exhibit an
annual event near the Valentine holiday.
Although much of the jewelry is
discreet, other pieces are more brazen.
For the girl that has everything, there is
always the "T's and A's" necklace with
enough dangling bosoms and buns to
satisfy any Twiggy.
Ahhh! And for that special someone on
your Valentine's list, you can enhance his
or her breakfast table with a $300 "Honey
Server" which is cleverly disguised as a
five-inch silver penis.
But if you really want to go all out, you
can buy the very usable "Enema Douche
Bag," decorated with a turquoise and
silver clamp for $400.
Since Foree hasn't sold anything yet,
and really hadn't planned to sell much,
maybe the add-a-bead will still be around
this Valentine's Day. g

You dance,
we smile
Four or five nights
a week the place to
check out for good
sounds is The Station.
Could be blues, blue
grass, new grass, reggae,
jazz, Irish music.
Could be anything. As
long as it's good.
And if our music
makes you feel so good
that you get up and
dance, that's very good.
When you dance,
we smile.
